Valentín Sánchez is a Senior Paralegal with the Oregon Law Center, Farmworker Program, based in Woodburn, Oregon. Since 2002, he has been conducting outreach with farmworkers throughout the state through presentations, employer-provided labor housing visits, radio shows, resource events, and home visits. Mr. Sanchez has developed many worker’s rights educational materials in various languages, such as Mixteco, Triqui, Zapoteco, Mam, and other indigenous languages. Additionally, Mr. Sanchez assists with employment-related cases, for example, wage claims, health and safety, and discrimination issues.
He has developed a strong understanding of farmworkers’ issues through his outreach work as part of litigation teams and research projects focused on occupational health and safety and workplace sexual harassment. He is pursuing a sociology and environmental studies degree at Linfield University and chairs Unidos Bridging Community’s board of directors, a nonprofit organization based in Yamhill County.
